College Essay Writing
Writing personal essays is a way to make sense of experience and develop a multi-layered vision of your position in the world. It's an exploratory process that leads to unexpected stations on the train of thought, stations that feel like places you've been trying to reach forever, even though you didn't know they existed before the writing process took your train of thought around the bend. The personal essay is also the genre colleges expect applicants to include in their admissions portfolios because it reveals a writer's essence in a way his academic work does not.
The Common Application Board of Directors releases new essay prompts, and each student in this course will write to four of those prompts and then thoroughly revise one of those essays for submission. In other words, each student will complete the group instruction, writing time, and personal coaching.
This class is only for students who have not yet written their college entrance essays as you will be writing your essay in this class.
