Course Description: In this class, students will explore Spanish language and culture through participation in conversation, games, and songs. They will learn through storytelling, creative movement, art, and more. This immersive experience will allow them to begin to develop an “ear” for the spoken language, including tones, accents, and rhythms. The objective is to make the student’s initial exposure to Spanish a relaxed, enjoyable, and enriching experience.

Course Description: In this class, students will build on their Spanish language foundation by expanding vocabulary and developing sentence formation skills. They will learn to count up to 50 and explore topics such as food, animals, and body parts through engaging, age-appropriate activities. As they strengthen their language skills, students will also take a cultural journey through Spanish-speaking countries—discovering music, traditions, celebrations, and daily life. This integrated approach encourages students to embrace both the language and the rich, diverse cultures it represents, fostering curiosity, connection, and global awareness. Course Description: This class is for students who love being active in a fast-paced high-energy environment. Our youngest panthers will participate in games that they have enjoyed in Physical Education class and will also be introduced to traditional team sports such as basketball, soccer, and flag football. Students will improve their overall coordination and work on their throwing, catching, and kicking skills. All skill levels are welcome.

Inspired by fall, the group will work with different mediums to create pieces that reflect the essence of the season. This class is more than just making things—it helps students see the world like an artist, full of creativity and wonder.

Course Description: In this engaging and imaginative pottery class, children will dive into the world of clay using hand-building techniques. Designed for beginners, this course will equip young artists with fundamental skills like making pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction. Students will discover how to shape, mold, and sculpt clay into creative works of art, including bowls, animals, and decorative items.

Each session will highlight a unique project, enabling kids to improve their fine motor skills, unleash their creativity, and build confidence in their artistic talents. Throughout the course, students will also learn the essentials of glazing and finishing techniques to perfect their masterpieces.

All materials are provided, and no prior experience is needed. By the end of the class, students will take home their own handmade, kiln-fired pottery pieces to cherish!

Course Description: Discover public speaking and discourse through extemp debate! Led by Head Coach Harry Strong, Upper School Speech and Debate teachers, and Varsity students in the competitive program, this class introduces students to debate by focusing on the fundamentals. Students will have plenty of opportunities to enhance their public speaking skills on engaging and relevant topics. At the end of the session, the group gets to showcase their skills by participating in an in-house tournament.

Course Description: This hands-on, project-based class will give students the opportunity to explore the exciting world of robotics. Using the engineering design process as their guide, students will conceive, design, build, test, and refine robots that bring their creative ideas to life.  Whether your child chooses to build a battle bot, create a work of art with robotic elements, or design a bot that can tackle a series of driving challenges, this class offers students the freedom to explore and create. Students will work both individually and in teams as they stretch their creativity while strengthening their technical skills in a supportive, fun environment.

Course Description: Welcome to VEX VRC Robotics! The competitive VRC robotics program runs from September 18 through late February, with potential continuation based on qualification tournaments. Students work in teams of three to four students to design, build, and code metal robots for the new 25-26 VEX Challenge. In this program, students must attend each Wednesday practice, 3:15-5:30 pm. Students will also be expected to dedicate at least one conference block a week and at least one hour outside of class for design notebook, coding skills, and/or research as posted on Google Classroom. As well, students must also be able to commit to the following tournament schedule:

1. FrostByte VRC Tournament at Potomac - December(all day) in Chester Gym
2. Potomac Classic Skills Only Tournament - Jan 17 or 18 in Spangler
3. Glen Allen Tournament - February
4. Virginia State Tournament for qualifying teams - late Feb/early March, TBD
