Assessment/Testing Requirements

We know some families may be planning ahead. See below for information about assessment/testing requirements for 2022-23 applications.

Kindergarten, - Grades 1, 4, & 6: For the 2022-23 application, we will use our internal assessment that will be administered at Potomac. For grades 1, 4, & 6, the assessment will be administered on Saturday, January 8 and 22. For Kindergarten, dates will be determined and posted in Ravenna in the fall. For the 2022-23 application, the WPPSI - IV and WISC-V are not required.

Grades 2, 3, & 5:  For the 2022-23 application, we will send an at-home assessment. It will be mailed out in mid-January to be returned by January 31, 2022.

Grade 7 - 8*: For the 2022-23 application, students may submit the results of their SSAT or ISEE standardized tests or take an internal assessment at Potomac. Internal assessment dates are Saturday, January 8, and January 22 (students may choose one).

Please note: all applicants to 7th and 8th grade will need to attend one of these Saturday visits for an interview. If they choose to take our internal assessment, they may do so at the same time.

Grade 9 - 11*: For the 2022-23 application, applicants to 9th grade, may submit the results of their SSAT or ISEE. Applicants to 10th and 11th grade may submit the SSAT, ISEE, or PSAT. As an alternative to these tests, all upper school applicants may take our internal assessment on campus at Potomac (dates will be determined and posted in Ravenna in the fall.

*The admission committee has decided to accept either the SSAT/ISEE/PSAT or the internal assessment (for grades 7 - 11) in an attempt to make the process more flexible. While we will not preclude students from submitting results of both, it is not our intention that applicants take both a standardized test and our internal assessment.
