Coach Franklin Bio

Born and raised in the DMV, Levi Franklin attended Central High School in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. There, he was not only an All Met and All PG County League basketball player, but also an Honorable Mention QB and a first baseman with a career batting average of .318. After high school, Levi accepted a Division I basketball scholarship from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he was a three-year letter winner, a two-year starter, and a co-captain in his senior year. Levi has pursued his passion for coaching and teaching for 27 years. During his career as a head boys basketball coach, he received All Met Coach of the Year honor in 1994 by The Washington Post and surpassed the 400 career-wins mark last season. During his nine years at The Potomac School, he has led his team to a conference championship and multiple Tip-Off Tournament championships and state tournament playoff appearances. Additionally, Levi teaches mathematics in Potomac’s Upper School, coordinates the school’s STEPS mentoring program, and serves as an assistant coach (defensive coordinator) for the varsity football team and an assistant coach for the varsity boys lacrosse team.
