Linda Cherry has been coaching Cross Country, Indoor/Outdoor track at The Potomac School since the fall of 2013.
She is native to Northern Virginia where she attended Lake Braddock Secondary School. She ran cross country and track in high school and earned a D-1 scholarship for cross country at Virginia Commonwealth University where she was the university's top runner. After earning her Bachelor's degree in Health Education she went on to earn her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Fayetteville State University, North Carolina and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Hawaii. After graduating she went into the Air Force as a military psychologist and was one of seven women to run nationally for the Air Force Cross Country Team. Today she is in private practice for health, medical, and sport psychology.
After a high school career as an All Met, All County, and All League runner and four-time team captain at Georgetown Prep in Rockville, Maryland, Jason Dwyer went on to Haverford College, where he was All Conference in both cross country and indoor track. Jason has 15 years of teaching experience and has coached for 37 seasons. At Potomac, he has led his teams to one conference title and seen six athletes earn All Met honors, 18 become state champions, and 23 qualify for nationals. Eleven of these athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, including five at Ivy League schools and three at Division I schools.
