Varsity Softball Wins Three, Record Now 21-1

The varsity softball team improved its overall record to 21-1 and 5-1 in the ISL with three more wins. Last Thursday, the Panthers played a game under the lights at Yorktown High School. Behind the four-hit pitching of Maria Urban '21, Potomac rolled to a 10-1 victory. Urban struck out nine and walked two. The Panthers tallied 18 hits in the contest with Yanna Bravewolf '22, Eva Butler '22, Kate Entis '20, Caroline Semel '20, and Anna Takis '19 all collecting three hits. Butler and Takis each drove in three runs. Butler, Entis, and Takis all had doubles, and Butler also had a triple.
 
On Monday night, the Panthers traveled to Alexandria to play T.C. Williams. Potomac won 8-3 behind the pitching of Bravewolf and Urban. They combined for 15 strikeouts and only one walk. Urban relieved Bravewolf to start the bottom of the third inning and faced the minimum of 15 batters, striking out 14. On Tuesday, Potomac returned to the ISL competition and defeated Holton-Arms 14-4. Caroline Culp '19 pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits while striking out five for her fourth victory of the season. Potomac's 11-hit attack featured two hits each by Culp, Takis, and Urban.
 
Today, the Panthers will try to secure the second seed in the ISL tournament when they host St. Stephen's & St. Agnes at 4:15 pm. It is also Senior Day for our five seniors.
