Football Improves to 2-0

The varsity football team bested Saint John Paul the Great 34-7 on Friday in front of a spirited home crowd. Potomac's defense was stingy, holding JPG to less than 100 yards. Max Gyllenhoff '24 and Tyler Judd '23 led the team in tackles, with nine and five respectively, each also adding 1.5 sacks on the day. Nathan Alexander '25 contributed four tackles and an interception. David Hyde '23 added two tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. JPG's only score came on a special teams breakdown early in the game.  

On offense, the Panthers gained 411 yards, including 254 yards rushing behind offensive linemen Laith Weimer '24, Bryce Hall '24, Jack Wade '23, Patrick Wolff '23, and Gyllenhoff. Nick Webster '23 gained 112 yards, and Drew Turner '23 scampered for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Marcel Gaskins '23 ran for 50 yards as well.

Quarterback Cam Boykins '25 was 7 of 9 passing for 157 yards and three TDs, connecting to Andrew Lay '23 for 110 yards and two TDs. Turner added two catches for 19 yards and a TD, while Jack Judd '24 and Mack Repke '25 each added a catch.
