Telling the Stories
That Define Us
Welcome to this spring 2026 issue of The Term—we are excited to share it with you.
Our cover feature follows Josh Stinchcomb ’91 and his work at The Wall Street Journal, where questions of trust, media, and innovation are front and center. We also profile Leigh Ernst Friestedt ’85, who is taking on a major NCAA settlement with implications for Title IX and the future of college athletics. And in a very different space, Steve Freligh ’71 shares how a lifelong interest in nature led to a career in wildlife photography and storytelling.
Closer to campus, we explore the tradition of outdoor classrooms and look inside the Upper School advisory program through the lens of longtime faculty member Doug Cobb, whose work reminds us how important it is for students to feel truly known. Don’t miss snapshots of recent events, student voices, and Class Notes!
Whether you read cover to cover or dip into a few favorite sections, thank you for reading!

Walk of Life
Who Cracked the Case?
The Upper School Theatre Arts cast brought mayhem and mischief to the stage in Clue, racing against time to unmask the murderer at Boddy Manor. Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, Mustard, Yvette, and Wadsworth kept the audience guessing—and laughing—until the very last twist in this madcap comedy.

Take Two, Kid Again
Katie Schluntz ’15 and Theo Mendez ’15
have released their debut album with their
new Los Angeles–based band, Kid Again.
The album is 15 years in the making, if you
count back to their Upper School a cappella
days at Potomac with Notables practicing for
Winter Lights in the stairwell during break.

A Look Back Through
THE POTOMAC LENS
A Midnight Welcome in Southampton
In June 1949, Potomac students in Senior Scout Troop 65 were greeted by local Sea Rangers as they began an international scouting adventure under the leadership of Potomac teacher Helen Seth-Smith.
