Ms. Amanda Gibb
It is a joy to watch children fall in love with reading, reach their highest potential, and feel empowered to become lifelong learners.
After graduating from the the University of Arizona and receiving my master’s degree from the Professional Development School at Marymount University, I began my teaching career in my home state of Kansas. I was honored to receive the state’s new teacher of the year award. I have spent the past 16 years working as a primary classroom teacher and reading specialist.
My passion for teaching started at the age of six. I filled the walls of our basement with chalkboards and stayed up all night planning lessons for my imaginary students. I would save my allowance for trips to the teacher supply stores instead of toy stores!
My husband, Dan, was born and raised in McLean and is an attorney in Washington, DC. We have two boys, Duncan and Jackson. I enjoy running, traveling, spending time with my family, and watching baseball.
The Lower School is a special place. It is a joy to watch children fall in love with reading, reach their highest potential, and feel empowered to become lifelong learners. I feel so fortunate to be part of the Potomac community.
