Faculty Positions

Assistant Robotics Coach (Part-Time Position)

The Potomac School, a private independent K-12 School in McLean, VA, seeks an Assistant Robotics Coach for its Upper School Robotics Team (grades 9-12). The ideal candidate should have a passion for robotics and experience in mentoring and engaging students.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the management of the VEX robotics program for the Upper School students (grades 9-12)
  • Maintaining the lab inventory
  • Supervising students in the robotics lab during practice rotation, which includes weekends (most likely Sundays and some weekday afternoons)
  • Attending some weekend competitions at the local, state, and national level.

Substitute Teachers (K-12)

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic substitute teachers for grades K-12. Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree and experience working in a classroom environment.

Staff Positions

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent school in McLean, VA, seeks a qualified candidate for the position of an Assistant Director of the Extended Day Program. This part-time position, reporting to the Director of the Extended Day Program, acts as a liaison between the parents, students, and staff members. The position is scheduled to work 17.5 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. Additional hours may occasionally be available during special events or activities on campus.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to follow and stay up to date with the procedures and guidelines outlined by the Virginia Department of Social Services, be supportive of children, and interact with all individuals in a positive manner. The candidate should be organized, flexible, and willing to take on new responsibilities.

A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2+ years of related work experience in a daycare or educational setting is required. First aid and CPR certification is mandatory.

Facilities Technician

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent day school in McLean, VA, is looking for a Facilities Technician to join our Buildings and Grounds Team. This is a full-time position that is primarily responsible for performing routine maintenance and handyman activities; notifying management of the need for repairs; setting up, breaking down, and providing support for events; general landscaping; cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks and parking areas; and responding to general maintenance and clean-up needs on campus in a courteous, timely, and efficient manner.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience as a handyman with knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, and painting/finishing trades. The candidate should also have the ability to negotiate confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift and move up to 75 pounds.

BUS DRIVERS

CDL - SCHOOL BUS DRIVER (Part-Time)

The Potomac School, a private independent K-12 School in McLean, VA is looking for a qualified bus driver. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving morning and evening bus routes. This is a 10-month, split-shift position that offers:

  • Competitive pay: $26.96 per hour based on credentials
  • Additional runs, which include field trips, late buses, and event buses
  • Bonus incentives
  • Well-behaved students
  • Opportunities for summer work
  • Excellent benefits for eligible employees, which include: health, dental, and vision insurance; paid vacation and holidays; tuition assistance; and training and development
  • No required fueling or maintenance of buses

Requirements:
