Leadership Bios

Susie Rusan, Head of Middle School
 
Susie Rusan is the Head of Middle School at Potomac, bringing nearly a decade of school administrative experience to her role. Before joining Potomac, Susie served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Outplacement at National Presbyterian School (NPS) in Washington, DC. Her tenure at NPS also included five years as Upper Division Director (Grades 2–6). In addition to her roles in leadership, Susie was a fourth grade classroom teacher for twelve years and a Spanish teacher (grades 3-6) for four years.
 
Susie’s leadership philosophy strongly reflects Potomac’s mission to prepare students to lead lives of purpose, achievement, and generosity of spirit. She is passionate about building learning environments that are welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered, and believes the Middle School years offer extraordinary opportunities to foster curiosity, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
 
Susie holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Elementary Education and Spanish from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School.
