Steve Lachut, Director of Athletics

As a seasoned administrator, educator, and coach, Steve brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to Potomac. Prior to his current role as athletics director, Steve served as an administrator at Saint James School in Hagerstown, Maryland for 13 years. While there, he oversaw 16 sports and 32 teams as the director of athletics. Steve was formerly the dean of students for four years and began his journey at Saint James in 2011 as the associate director of athletics. Steve’s professional experience also includes time teaching history, government, economics, and physical education at a number of public and private schools in New York and Maryland. 

Steve's passion for athletics goes beyond administration. He serves as the head coach of the Saint James varsity wrestling program and assistant coach for the boys lacrosse team. He has spent more than twenty years coaching wrestling, lacrosse, and field hockey across the high school, intermediate school, and club levels. A native of Buffalo, NY, Steve was an avid athlete. In high school, he was a three-sport varsity student-athlete playing football, wrestling, and lacrosse. His love for athletics followed him to college, where he competed in lacrosse at the collegiate level. He furthered his knowledge and leadership skills by earning a Master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University.
