Ryan Woods has spent his entire professional career working in independent schools and will be entering his sixth year as the head of the Intermediate School at Potomac. Ryan has worked at Georgetown Day School, St. Paul’s School (MD), Providence Day School, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School, and Alexandria Country Day School. Throughout his career, he has coached soccer, basketball, and baseball at the Middle and Upper School levels. Before becoming a full time school administrator, Ryan taught physical education, health, and life science. He earned his undergraduate degree from Eastern University and his master’s in organizational communication from Queens University of Charlotte, NC. Ryan has been honored with the Distinguished Young Alumnus Award from St. Paul’s School, The W. W. Smith Charitable Trust Scholarship, and the Donald A. Walker Athletic Fund. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, playing the guitar, and listening to live music. Ryan’s wife is the Upper School counselor at Potomac, and their two daughters also attend Potomac.
