Alumni & Development

The mission of the Alumni and Development Office at The Potomac School is to establish and foster meaningful ties among our alumni, parents and the school’s many friends by providing timely communications and opportunities for involvement in the life of the school.

The Potomac School is one of our nation’s top independent schools in part because our students and teachers are provided with the best tools available for teaching and learning. Our students are encouraged to become independent thinkers and learners, and to reach beyond the mastery of fundamental skills toward the rewards of inquiry, initiative, and reflection.

The cost of achieving these goals is great, and we are indebted to our many donors who support the school each year. We invite your participation in the following initiatives, which help to make a difference in the life of every Potomac student.

The Annual Fund

Each year the Annual Fund supports the strong academic and extracurricular programs for which Potomac is known by bridging the gap between tuition income and the real cost of educating each student. Annual Fund dollars provide immediate benefits to our students by funding the purchase of computers and equipment, providing assistance to athletics, visual and performing arts, extracurricular activities, and continuing education for teachers. While our vision for Potomac looks to the future of our school and our community, the Annual Fund provides for the requirements of today.

The Campaign for Potomac’s Future

The goal of The Campaign for Potomac’s Future is to provide the school with the best facilities and staff resources available to fulfill our mission of fostering each student’s intellectual development, love of learning, and strength of character. Together with construction of the new Upper and Lower School buildings, an endowment of financial aid and professional development ensures a strong and diverse community of students and faculty. The strength of our educational program, the commitment and talent of our educators, and the beauty and resources of our campus are here for our children today. The Campaign for Potomac’s Future will ensure that they will be available for every new generation of students to come.
