How to Donate to Fall Frolics

All the signs of autumn are upon us: the kids are back in school, leaves are starting to turn, and the 30th Annual Fall Frolics is almost here! Carnival games and rides, food and snacks, Nearly New Boutique, the Potomac Bazaar, and Marketplace will all be here, AND SO SHOULD YOU. One hundred percent of Fall Frolics net proceeds go to the Scholarship Fund and Faculty Development.

This much anticipated annual event can not succeed without the help of our entire parent community. Year after year, your generous contributions of time, talent and resources make Fall Frolics a success for our children and their teachers. Here is how you can help:

First, we need your donations:

There are many ways to contribute to and support Fall Frolics. Please consider:

Sponsorship opportunities-- Cash donations are important, necessary and very much appreciated. Levels are:

Recycle items you no longer need or use during Donation Week, October 15 through 20. (For donation schedule click here)

We need the following:
New or gently used ties, toys, complete board games and sports equipment in working order

New or next-to-new Gardening items: such as pots, ornaments, planters, tools, supplies, garden furniture and outdoor-living accents, trellises, statuary, fountains, cache pots and vases--both indoor and out.

Gift baskets to auction on Saturday, October 20: LS and MS classes are collecting for theme baskets to be auctioned at Potomac Bazaar. We also welcome baskets compiled by individual or a group of families. Choose your own theme or pick one of ours. Bring the items to a collection point , and we'll create the basket for you.

Possible themes include:

  • Road Trip (activities and games to do on a road trip)
  • Garden Supplies
  • Night on the Town (tickets, dinner); Afternoon in the City
  • Day at the Beach
  • Wedding Shower
  • Back to School-Potomac
  • Let's get Organized” (organizers for home, office)
  • New Baby (boy or girl theme)
  • Any "How to" Collection

Donate gently used clothes to the Nearly New Boutique. Each year, families recycle clothes and accessories by combing through their closets and donating items to Fall Frolics. For 30 years this much anticipated favorite has generated funds for scholarships and faculty development.

 

Talent and Creative Energy Needed

Come join the dedicated, fun group of parents already working to make our 30th Fall Frolics a great success. Contact Christine Sharkey at csharkey@potomacschool.org to help with Fall Frolics preparations.

These jobs include: collecting donations, making carnival decorations, and setting up for the carnival and the Potomac Bazaar.

From running games to selling tickets to serving lunch, many hands are needed on the day of the carnival. Please plan to volunteer for a shift on Saturday, October 20. Contact Farida Robinson, Volunteer Chair at fsrobinson@aol.com to help.
