Nature Science Adventure

Summer@Potomac's Nature Science programs are ideal for the young explorer, naturalist, and builder who enjoys being outside. Over thirty years ago, Nature Science Camp was started by science teachers in order to extend children’s knowledge, curiosity and fascination with the environment. Today, that same goal guides all of our head teachers as they plan purposeful, theme-based, hands-on outdoor and classroom experiences for 2nd and 3rd graders in Nature Science Adventure and 4th through 6th graders in Nature Science Expedition. Whether on Potomac’s beautiful 90+ acre campus, or on a field trip to different local ecosystems, Nature Science campers have inspiring opportunities to work together, explore, and better understand the world around them. As a specialty camp, the Nature Science experience allows campers to form a tight community of new friends in a structured environment. On-campus swimming instruction is included unless on a field trip.

In Nature Science Adventure, rising 2nd and 3rd grade campers will experience all the fun of making discoveries on our 90+ acre campus, and also during off-campus field trips. Activities harness campers' wonder with the natural world and center around the beauty and design that surrounds them. Hands-on, inquiry-based experiences drive campers' learning and create lasting memories. Highlights include catching tadpoles in the ponds, caring for the classroom animals, and creating expressive works of art around our topics of study.

If your child is inquisitive, full of questions about the world, or has an interest in caring for the earth, Nature Science Adventure is a perfect fit! Each session, campers will have an extended day trip to Breezy Point Beach for fossil hunting; there is a 6:00 pm on-campus parent pick-up for this trip:
Session 1 Parent pick-up: Tuesday, July 10
Session 2 Parent pick-up: Tuesday, July 31
