Math Adventure Camp is designed to build your child's understanding and love of math by connecting math to everything from a building block to the great outdoors. Math will come alive for campers through unique hands-on explorations involving manipulatives, games, puzzles, technology, design thinking projects and customized math trails utilizing Potomac's 90+ acre campus. These methods and materials will be used by our expert math teachers to reinforce and teach basic numeration skills.
Each day will be organized around projects connected to one of the five National Council of Teaching Mathematics national standards - Numeration and Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis and Probability. Risk taking, learning from mistakes, perseverance, collaboration and FUN with math will be emphasized.
Grades 1 - 4 are taught by Penni Ross, former Math Department Chair at Flint Hill, Math Resource Teacher and former Potomac Teacher and Polly Nagell, Potomac School Kindergarten Teacher.
Grades 5 - 6 are taught by Kate Morgan, Potomac School 6th grade teacher.
