    When the sun begins to shine,

    And you've got a bit of time,

    Read!

    When the rain has got you down,

    And your friends just aren't around,

    Read!

    At the beach,

    Or up a tree,

    When you need some company

    Get a book or magazine and...

    Read!

    When there's nothing left to do,

    And the heat is bothering you,

    Read!

    When the moon is in the sky,

    And you just can't close your eyes,

    Read!

    At the park,

    Or on a bike,

    When you're resting from your hike

    Pick up anything you like and...

    Read!


Tips on Reading Aloud:

  • help teach the art of listening by choosing a quiet spot without distractions
  • begin with picture books, then add information and chapter books
  • vary the length and subject of the titles you read
  • before you begin, share the title, author, illustrator and publisher
  • keep your listeners involved by asking or inviting questions
  • allow discussion time after reading
  • read only books you will both enjoy

Book Wish List

The school's librarians maintain a "wish list" of books to add to the collections of all three libraries. Anyone can donate books from the wish list and the books are placed into circulation immediately, with a dedication bookplate of the donor's choosing. The wish list on this website is updated frequently.
