Green April at Potomac
Four events that reflect the Potomac community’s love of nature and commitment to environmental stewardship are planned for the month of April.
April 1-30: E-waste Collection
Potomac will collect old electronics for recycling. Send in smaller items (phones, cords, laptops, etc.) with your children on the bus. In addition, on Saturday,April 16, larger items (TVs, computers, printers, etc.) can be dropped off in front of EPAC between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm.
April 8: Screen on the Green
The Students for Environmental Action (SEA) club will host a free, eco-conscious viewing of a K-12 appropriate film (TBD) on the US Quad from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Come out with blankets, lawn chairs, a reusable water bottle, and money to purchase drinks and snacks. Proceeds support the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
April 16: Stewardship Day
Beginning at 10:00 am, volunteers will meet in front of the US East Building for a day spent caring for and playing on the school's 90-acre campus. The focus will be on the US Green Roof and campus gardens. Lunch will be provided for all participants. For more information, contact Sustainability Coordinator Bern Hoffmann '86.
April 20: Earth Day
Potomac's student and parent environmental groups will host the annual Farmers Market from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. For purchase at the market will be seedlings ($0.50-$1.50), fresh fruit and vegetable snacks ($0.25 - $0.75), and baked goods ($0.50-$1.00).
