DIRECTOR OF LEARNING SUPPORT (GRADES 7-12)

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent day school in McLean, VA, seeks experienced candidates for the Director of Learning Support (Grades 7-12) role. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning. In this new position, the Director of Learning Support will collaborate with the leadership in furthering the learning support framework for the school. The director is responsible for leading the program in grades 7-12 and overseeing a team of two Learning Specialists. In addition to leading the program, this role will manage an Upper School caseload of his/her own, ensuring students receive the tools and support necessary to succeed.

An ideal candidate will be familiar with recent research and development in educating students with learning differences; have at least 5 years of prior experience in the field of learning support; hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher; have familiarity with neuropsychoeducational testing, individual academic plan processes, and reporting; maintain both a strong work ethic and a high level of integrity; have an understanding of independent schools.

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT LIFE (GRADES 9-12)

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent day school in McLean, VA, seeks experienced candidates for the Director of Student Life (Grades 9-12) role. This is a full-time, 12-month position, reporting to the Head of the Upper School. This position serves as a member of the Upper School Administrative team and has overall responsibility for student programs, the advisory program, the discipline system, clubs and activities, and school sponsored social gatherings. In addition, this role includes teaching one class.

Manager of Campaigns and Major Gifts


The Potomac School, an independent K-12 school in McLean, VA, seeks a Manager of Campaigns and Major gifts. This role is a full-time position and member of The Potomac School’s Advancement Office with responsibility for the overall management and day-to-day operations of the current comprehensive campaign through 2021, and subsequent major gifts initiatives identified by the School’s leadership thereafter. Reporting to the Director of Advancement and working in partnership with the campaign consultant and senior staff, the Manager ensures that all aspects of the campaign run smoothly and efficiently, including execution of the campaign operating plan, adherence to the campaign timetable, and achievement of the campaign goals.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising; experience working in a campaign environment preferred
  • Proficiency in data base management and moves management functionality
  • Excellent communications skills, including strong writing skills
  • Strong quantitative skills; experience creating donor reports and analysis preferred
  • Experience in prospect research with working knowledge of external databases and resources available for obtaining information
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and independently manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships with diverse populations
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and email and demonstrated ability to quickly learn various software programs
  • Strong organizational skills and unfailing attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work

Bus Drivers

CDL - SCHOOL BUS DRIVER (Part-Time)

The Potomac School, a private independent K-12 School in McLean, VA is looking for a qualified bus driver. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving morning and evening bus routes. This is a 10-month, split shift position that offers:

  • Competitive Pay: $26.96 per hour based on credentials
