Lower/Middle School Mathematics Coordinator

The Potomac School is seeking a full-time Lower/Middle School Mathematics Coordinator for its Mathematics Program from January–June 2017. The Math Coordinator will work with grade level teams to plan and implement mathematics instruction for grades 3-4 within a coherent K – 12 construct.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • modeling best practices in mathematics instruction within classroom settings
  • coaching teachers in building their mathematical skill sets
  • identifying and monitoring individual math needs of students
  • working with classroom teachers and students to provide differentiated instruction for a range of learners
  • Facilitate weekly grade level math meetings to help guide discussion about best implementation, reflection of student work, various teaching methods.
  • providing materials that enhance and support the mathematics curriculum
  • coordinating ongoing professional development and/or training for faculty

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of full-time teaching experience, and a Master’s Degree is preferred. A background in Math in Focus, our math curriculum, would be a distinct asset. In addition to this, we look for a strong commitment to students, a positive collaborative leadership style, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Staff

Facilities Technician

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent day school in McLean, VA, is looking for a Facilities Technician to join our Buildings and Grounds team. This is a full-time position that is primarily responsible for performing routine maintenance and handyman activities, notifying management of need for repairs, setting up, breaking down and providing support for events, general landscaping, cleaning snow or debris from sidewalks and parking areas, and responding to general maintenance and clean-up needs on campus in a courteous, timely and efficient manner.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience as a handyman with knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing, electrical, general carpentry and painting/finishing trades. The candidate should also have the ability to negotiate confined spaces, climb ladders, lift and move up to 75 pounds.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent day school in McLean, VA, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of the Extended Day Program. This part-time position, reporting to the Director of the Extended Day Programs, acts as a liaison between the parents, students and the staff members.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to follow and stay up to date with the procedures and guidelines outlined by Virginia Department of Social Services, be supportive to children, and interact with all individuals in a positive manner. The individual that we seek should also be organized and flexible, willing to take on new responsibilities. A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2+ years of related work experience in a daycare or educational setting are required. First Aid and CPR certification is mandatory.

Extended Day Program Aide

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent day school in McLean, VA, seeks qualified candidates for the position of the Extended Day Program Aide. This part-time position, reporting to the Director of the Private Music Program, supervises the students before and after their music lesson and escorts them to and from the music lessons.

SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS NEEDED

The Potomac School, a private K-12 School in McLean, VA invites qualified school bus drivers to join our school community. We prefer CDL licensed drivers.
