Upper School Math Teacher

The Potomac School is seeking a full-time Upper School Math Teacher. We are looking for a candidate with expertise and teaching experience in mathematics (grades 9-12) to begin in August 2017.

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of full-time teaching experience and possess a bachelor’s degree, master’s is preferred. We are looking for experience teaching a full range of math courses, including algebra through calculus. In addition to this, we look for a strong commitment to students, a positive collaborative leadership style, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

The ideal candidate should have a broad history background with the ability to teach the various levels of history appropriate for the grade level, and possess skills to engage students in a lively, intellectually rigorous and interactive discourse. Candidates must be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in a collaborative setting.

The Potomac School, a K-12 independent school in McLean, VA is seeking a full-time Lower/Middle School Mathematics Coordinator for its Mathematics Program for the 2017-18 school year. The Math Coordinator will work with grade level teams to plan and implement mathematics instruction within a coherent K – 12 construct.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • modeling best practices in mathematics instruction within classroom settings
  • coaching teachers in building their mathematical skills sets
  • identifying and monitoring individual math needs of students
  • working with classroom teachers and students to provide differentiated instruction for a range of learners
  • Facilitate weekly grade level math meetings to help guide discussion about best implementation, reflection of student work, various teaching methods.
  • providing materials that enhance and support the mathematics curriculum
  • coordinating ongoing professional development and/or training for faculty
  • implementing parent education for Potomac families

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of full-time teaching experience, and a Master’s Degree is preferred. SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS NEEDED

The Potomac School, a private K-12 School in McLean, VA invites qualified school bus drivers to join our school community. We prefer CDL licensed drivers.
